What does it mean to change for good?

From one coach’s perspective

To change for good is a double entree, oops I meant double entendre. Change for good(ness) and change for good(ever/permanent). If there’s one thing I’m committed to sharing as a national board-certified health and wellness coach, it is that the category of well-being basically equates to “what’s good for you.”

‘Good’ is like ‘shit’. There are actually tons of interpretations out there. Depending on how you say it, the context of sentence you use it in or what emphasis you add in the tonality, punctuation, typography, body language of that, will define it. That’s some good shit right?

Then there’s ‘you’. You as in your best self: healthy, wealthy, protected and well-respected. I once (thought I) knew what was right for everyone. I had the answer, insisted on it and even got paid to provide it. Good grief.

I actually don’t know what’s right for you and your choices, only my own. When your motivation, realization and strategy needs some support, that’s my cue to enter. I coach to help you define and refine positive change.

If coaching were a game of basketball, it would be 2-on-2. ‘Coach & Coachee’ vs ‘Choices & Mentalities which do not serve you’. The lessons learned are from the chapters of your own book. Can you coach yourself? Of course! Here are a few good questions (see what I did there) to get started.

For best results, revisit weekly:

  1. What actions are you being loyal to?
  2. What are you willing to change for good?
  3. How are you actively contributing to positive change?
  4. What does a good life mean to you?
  5. What high-quality choices will you make next?

+Bonus Challenge: For every choice you make in today, document it. At the end of the day, categorize each choice by placing a mark next to the ones that are changing you for good. Reflect on those, and use it as fuel for tomorrow.
